Last Day to Register for Summer: May 21st!

Attention Students: One Week left to register for Summer 2008 Courses. Regular registration ends on May 21st. Please get your course registration in to Corina Cantua by the weeks end (May 16, 2008). Courses begin May 23rd so remember “By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail”-Benjamin Franklin.

Textbook List now available!

It took a little longer than expected, but the textbook list for Summer ‘08 is now available.

About that textbook list…

Last semester, I posted about the new online textbook lookup site the university had created and explained that we were going to move to that process instead of posting our normal textbook list on our website. Well, we just found out that that new online textbook page is not ready. So, I’m working today on gathering the textbook list for Summer ‘08 and will get that published ASAP. Very sorry for the delay — thanks for your patience!

Online Teaching Award Nomination Reminder

UTD SOM Online Students Facebook Group

The UTD SOM Online Students Facebook group is a great way to keep in touch with your classmates and network with UTD SOM online students, faculty, and staff. The group contains a message board, photo album, and a place for posted items (such as relevant websites). In addition, group emails provide the UTD SOM e-Learning team with another way to keep students informed about current events.

Early Registration Has Started

Today, March 31st, is the first day of Early Registration for both Summer 2008 and Fall 2008.  If you are ready to register for courses, please follow the registration guidelines.  Also, make sure to verify the payment deadlines as you will need to pay at an earlier date if you register during Early Registration.

Proctored Exam Procedures

If you will be taking a proctored exam for one of your courses this semester, please fill out the proctored exam form (located on our information page: http://som.utdallas.edu/globalmba/currentstudents/proctoredexaminfo.html). For most classes, the deadline has already passed; however, we are still accepting forms. If you have not turned your form in yet, please do so soon.

Once your proctored exam has been scheduled, please check with your testing center at least two days before your exam, so that we can troubleshoot if they have any trouble accessing the file.

Finally, please remember that proctored exams must be returned to UTD both by fax and mail. It is important that the exam is faxed, so that we have a backup in case the original is lost in the mail.

The deadline for returning the exams to UTD (the last day of the proctored exam window for your course) refers to the date by which we must receive the faxed copy — you do not need to express ship the original so that we receive it by that date.

Graduating This Summer?

Beginning this year (2008), UTD will no longer be holding a summer commencement ceremony. If you will be graduating this Summer 2008 semester and are interested in participating in a commencement ceremony, please contact your advisor to determine which ceremony you can participate in - the Spring 2008 or Fall 2008 ceremony. Second 8-week session has started

This is a reminder that 2nd 8-week session has started this week. We have 3 online courses scheduled for 2nd 8-week. GMBA program offeres AIM 6202.0G2 core course online and AIM program offers AIM 6335.0G2 and AIM 6335.0G4 online. If you have registered for a 2nd 8-week online course and haven’t logged in to the WebCT course site yet, please go to http://webct6.utdallas.edu/ to access the course. You can find more course access information in this online course welcome message.

WebCT Scheduled Downtime

UTD Information Resources has announced hardware upgrades on Sunday, March 2 and Sunday, March 9 that will result in WebCT downtime from 7:00 am to 10:00 am CT.

We urge you to schedule your studies around the outages, as WebCT will not be available during these times.
